DINING REVIEW: BASILIC VIETNAMESE GRILL

Basilic Vietnamese Grill is a relaxed Vietnamese pho restaurant located at 200 Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL 33432, “serving pho, bun & other classic dishes in a modern space.” 2PhatPhucs love Basilic’s pho, and have enjoyed just about everything else we have tried there during our many visits. We are going to describe our two favorites: the beef pho and the wok tossed noodles.

Toai, who is a very friendly Vietnamese waiter at Basilic, even told 2PhatPhucs that “phuc” means “happy” in Vietnamese. 😊

BASILIC VIETNAMESE GRILL’S BEEF PHO ($11)

All of Basilic Vietnamese Grill’s pho bowls are served with rice noodles and chicken or beef broths topped with scallions. Basil, cilantro, culantro, lime, hot peppers, and bean sprouts are served on the side, and can be added to the pho as desired. We have tried just about each of their phos, and the beef pho (slices of steak and brisket) and the grill chicken pho are our favorite. When ordering Basilic’s pho, you are served with a giant bowl of hot pho, and you can customize it with the side vegetables provided with it. As a “soup person,” I definitely love their pho, as it is delicious and comforting, yet still light.

BASILIC’S WOK TOSSED NOODLES ($16)

Basilic Vietnamese Grill’s wok tossed noodles comprise a crispy rice noodle basket (although soft rice or egg noodles are also an option). We order ours with chicken (beef, seafood, and spicy lemongrass are available as well). They are served with baby corn bok choy, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, napa and snow peas, with a delicious brown sauce. This one is our favorite because they are simply delicious. Basilic is the only place that we know of that makes crispy pan-fried noodles out of rice noodles, so they are gluten free. We usually order it with a side of steamed fried rice, for the delicious double-carb experience. You can always be a gluten-free glutton!

In summary, we love Basilic Vietnamese Grill for its very tasty comfort food served in very generous portions at very reasonable prices (especially for East Boca!). The complimentary seafood chips are very good too, and sizzle (almost like sizzling rice) when dipped in pho.

Note: This is our honest, unsolicited review. We were not commissioned to do it, and received nothing in exchange.
